World’s first Beatles Hotel rocks

Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool relies on GROHE

Like no other band, the Beatles influenced the zeitgeist of the 1960s. Inspired by, and in honour of, the Fab Four, the Hard Days Night Hotel recently opened in Liverpool. The hotel’s elaborately designed facade with its life-size statues of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison is an architectural highlight and gives a taste of things to come inside - from alternative to elegant, the hotel revives the cult surrounding the Fab Four. The hotel’s classy looks extend all the way to the bathrooms, where GROHE faucets add the right touch.

The idea to establish a hotel in remembrance of the Beatles in their home town was born back in 1984 but it took almost 25 years to build this exclusive guesthouse with 110 rooms, two restaurants, two bars and a chapel. The heart-felt project was realised by Falconer Chester Hall Architects from Liverpool. Their brief was to create a contemporary and authentic environment in a Victorian building complex erected in 1884 and boasting large windows, archways and arcades. As a modern contrast to the period architecture, the building has been given a new roof, which affords an excellent view of the Liverpool skyline. The hotel itself is also a genuine eye-catcher thanks to its unique facade, which invites visitors to step inside.

Inside the hotel, the super stars of the 1960s, whose songs caused a stir across the globe, are omnipresent. Photos, pieces of art and illustrations by the four Mersey lads, some of them previously unseen, are spread throughout the building. The rooms themselves are painted in sand and brown colours. Depending on the room category, the furniture either embodies typical British elegance or represents a colourful yet harmonious mix of styles. Those looking for a very special treat may book the Lennon Suite or the McCartney Suite as the special highlight of their stay in Liverpool. While the former is adorned by a white piano and photos of the late singer and guitarist of the Beatles, the latter combines luxurious and artistic elements from Sir Paul’s life, with a shining knight’s armour reminding guests of his knighthood.

Music is a language that is understood throughout the world, and the Beatles Hotel wants to attract international guests with its global design. This philosophy can also be found in the bathrooms. Harmoniously integrated into the overall design concept, the Atrio and Essence faucet lines from GROHE focus on cylindrical forms which evoke images of classic column architecture. Atrio is used as an exclusive wall-mounted 3-hole faucet in some of the rooms. Its Ypsilon handles are a new interpretation of the traditional tri-spoke handle. In the other bathrooms, Essence single-lever mixers dispense water in an especially elegant and user-friendly manner. The innovative GROHE SilkMove® technology ensures comfort, easy operation and long life.

GROHE has always matched its products to actual user requirements. Their intuitive operation and the clear, compelling design are perfectly in tune with the unique ambiance of the Hard Days Night Hotel.
